The exhibition presents a selection of works derived from elements related to the architecture of the artist Vicenç Huedo. These are recurring elements from the imaginary, real, or invented universe of Vicenç, who is capable of capturing the poetics of the object as a trace of human life through a series of references he has found in various cities, and with which he has shaped his own collection of objects—ranging from doors to water pipes from an old building.
The exhibition is part of the major retrospective that the city of Girona is dedicating to one of the artists most closely connected to and beloved by the city, born in Socuéllamos in 1955. Under the title (Res) is true, the exhibition extends across several art spaces in the city and will offer a broad and in-depth view of the career of this painter, who has left a mark both through his artistic work and his teaching career.
Vicenç Huedo
Established in Girona since 1975, he combines painting, drawing, and printmaking with a sensitivity that oscillates between the figurative and the symbolic. For more than 35 years as a professor at the Municipal School of Art of Girona, he trained generations of artists and became a key figure in the city’s cultural life. He was an active member of ADAG (Assemblea Democràtica d’Artistes de Girona) and the author of Cent maneres de dibuixar un arbre (2014), a work that encapsulates his vision of art as a process of constant learning.
