Four short films that bring us closer to distant territories and offer us the possibility of discovering other architectural practices, other cultures and other ways of living. What do we share and what similarities do we find between theirs and ours? What can we learn to improve our relationship with the environment and the territory?

1. Rain Harvest Home | Dir. Juan Benavides | Mexico, 2022 | 9 min
Located inside a nature reserve, there is a house that incorporates the principles of permaculture to establish a holistic and integrative relationship between the people who live there and their environment.

2. Black Mouse | Dir. Ahmad Naboulsi | Liban, 2022 | 21 min
The unfinished exhibition complex designed by Oscar Niemeyer is today a real “white elephant” in the middle of Tripoli. What do the city’s inhabitants think of this delirious and gigantic abandoned project?

3. Cerro Saturno | Dir. Miguel Hilari | Bolivia, EE.UU, 2022 | 13 min
Cerro Saturno, a vast, sacred and ancestral lunar landscape, seems to be inhabited only by the wind. A road that goes up to nowhere, high tension poles, some houses and unfinished constructions reveal human presence.

4. Life on the Amazon Waters | Dir. Danielle Khoury Gregorio | Brazil, 2023 | 31 min
The riverside villages along the Amazon as it flows through Brazil live in floating houses or houses suspended on wooden pillars. Community leaders and local builders have been practising this endangered vernacular architecture with precision and environmental harmony for centuries.

Initial presentation by the organization Barq Festival / COAC and Q&A afterwards with part of the teams of the programmed shorts
